What Teaching Looks Like

Literacy Foundations

  • Recognising own name.
  • Identifying some letters (especially in name).
  • Talking about stories and pictures.

Mathematics Foundations

  • Counting objects reliably up to 5 and beyond where ready.
  • Matching quantities to numerals.
  • Using maths language: more, less, same.

Understanding the World

  • Talking about family, animals, environment.
  • Asking “what” and “where” questions.

Expressive Arts & Design

  • Role play, drawing, painting, music.

What to Observe

  • Uses 2–3-word phrases.
  • Counts with understanding.
  • Recognises own name.
