What Teaching Looks Like

  • Sit at children’s level, respond warmly.
  • Talk constantly: name actions, objects, feelings.
  • Repeat words and sounds.
  • Create a calm, predictable environment.

Literacy Foundations

  • Looking at books together.
  • Pointing to pictures and naming them.
  • Enjoying songs, rhymes, repetition.

Mathematics Foundations

  • Exploring quantity through filling/emptying.
  • Using words like “more”, “all gone”, “in/out”.

Understanding the World

  • Exploring textures, sounds, light, water.
  • Responding to familiar people and routines.

Expressive Arts & Design

  • Music, movement, sensory play

What to Observe
